Leather branding iron with your logo
For leather, Logoiron cuts a solid brass stamp from your logo: labels, wallets, belts, bags, leather menus and coasters. Heated, it presses a dark, sunken mark into the hide, with no ink and no foil. It comes in three sizes, €200, €220 or €240, and you approve a free proof before anything is made in our Bulgarian workshop.
Good for: leatherworkers and leather-goods workshops, brands that label every piece they make, and restaurants with leather menus and coasters.

Which leather takes the mark
Vegetable-tanned leather is the one to brand. It is firm, it darkens where the hot brass touches it, and it keeps the shape of the mark; the lion in the photograph is a single press into veg-tan. Chrome-tanned leather is softer and usually finished, and a hot mark on it tends to come out uneven, so test an offcut before committing a whole batch.
Synthetic leather is not for branding: its plastic surface melts instead of darkening.
Branding leather, step by step
- Warm the brass head gently with a torch, in an oven or on a grill. Leather scorches sooner than wood, so aim lower than you would for a board.
- Make a test mark on an offcut of the same hide, starting with a short press.
- Lengthen the press until the mark is as dark as you want. Pressing harder only crushes the grain.
- Lay the piece on a hard, flat surface and bring the head straight down, so all of the mark lands at once.
- Give the head a moment back on the heat between pieces when the marks start to lighten.
Why brass for leather
Brass takes finer detail than aluminium, so small lettering on a label stays legible, and it holds its heat through a run of pieces. Leather is not eaten, so the lead that keeps brass away from food does not matter here.
Questions people ask
- Can I use it in a hot-foil press?
- It is made as a hand stamp: a solid head you heat and press yourself, not a die for a machine. If you run a foil or embossing press, write to us before ordering.
- Will the mark wear off?
- No ink is involved, so there is no layer to wear away. The mark is pressed and darkened into the leather itself and ages with it.
- How small can the lettering be?
- That depends on the typeface and the leather, so we judge it on your logo and show you on the proof what will read. If something is too fine, we say so before anything is cut.
- Can the same stamp mark wood?
- Yes. Brass is the metal we use for both wood and leather; only food needs aluminium.
